LG Neon TE365

My wife and I had recently bought 2 of these buggers and shortly after they arrived the disappointment started. First of all they never came with a user's manual, data cable or a headset for the FM radio built in, which wont work without them and oddly enough they need to plug into the same spot as my charger does.

After looking for a couple days to find a data cable and headset for my wife and I to share, I came up empty handed. Turns out that nither Rogers or any other cell store within 50km of my place carry either of them. The only place I was able to find anything that looks to be what I need is on the LG website, but with not being able to tell forsure if it will fit my phone I am reluctant to order them in fear that they are the wrong ones.

So takeing the good with the bad ( so far only bad ) I try to make the best of it and buy a Mem card so I can put files onto the phone.

I placed a few .mp3's on the card and a few I had choped down to use as ringtones, once in the phone I quickly realized that none of my .mp3's can be used as ringtones due to DRM which I had just recently learned about because of this phone.

After trying countless ways to try and bypass the DRM with a few things I had read of the net, I gave up with no success.

Just last night I tryed to put a few Avatar .gif's that I have pooled up over the years on the phone to use as wallpaper only to get a new error saying " Large Image " can not be used as wallpaper.

I have had just about enough disappointment with this phone and I am now looking for other ways to get around it.

So other then bitching about my missfortunes with Rogers new phone, Im looking for a way to resolve these problems.

Soooooo on that note would unlocking this phone get ride of these blocks?" and if not does anyone know any way around these problems.

I text more than I call so purchased one of these over the weekend from FIDO. Could not make calls after the 2nd day, phone was not dialing, returned it to Fido and hope the new replacement phone will last longer.

There are no headphones nor USB cable in the box. But I use a USB converter with my Micro SD 4 GB card and works great, as does the bluetooh.

I find reception to be quite good, texting is a breeze.

And yes, at this time, MP3s cannot be used as ringtones, unless you get the phone unlocked, but will void warranty, so I can live without that.

My images are fine. Had to convert video framerate to make it work on the phone, but that's not hard.

Just hope this new unit works for a while, but it's guaranteed 1 year, exchange at Fido in Montreal, Quebec.

By the way, Fido will take the phone back and refund within 15 days, you may want to verify with Rogers, since they are now one.

i know what you mean, right now i am SO pissed cuz i jus found out that i cant use mp3 format ringtones . .URGH! does anyone one possibly know which format i can use for the ringtones?

As of so far only legitimite DRM (Digital Rights Managment) files are useable as ringtones. If you remember way back in the days when mp3's first came around, the little problem people use to have ripping there cd's has come back to haunt us in reverse.

I myself do not have the LG Neon but I was looking into getting it. However the phone that I have now also requires DRM files to be used as ringtones. I found software online called a DRM Packager.
It is very easy to install and easy to use, you add the mp3 you wish to create a DRM key for and then press the “Create DRM content” button. The program will make a copy of the mp3 in the same folder as the original mp3. Send the mp3 with DRM content to your phone and set it as a ringtone.
I make free ringtones all of the time...hopefully it works for you.

Done did tried the sony erricson DRM packager with umteen different types of file media (.mp3 .wma .acc ect.) for any unknown reason it wont work.

Converting them won't work? Of after they're converted they still don't work on the phone?

I found many different methods that were claimed to work on the net the day I bought the phone. A few suggested that converting the mp3 to wma would fix that, It did not. Also said converting an mp3 to acc then locking it with the sony DRM packager would work, it did not. Ive tryed locking mp3, acc and .wma with a combined delivery and seperate with the DRM packager. I have also tryed just puting on the unlocked songs on as well.

My phone has no problems seeing the songs or playing them but when I selecet use as ringtone that damn DRM only error pops up.

LG is giveing away for free the data cable and headset for the Neon. Call customer service and give them your info. I called and said that I had read on the web that they were giveing them away and they took my phone and address info and I should be reciveing them within 2 weeks.

This is legit I called myself, if your still in need of either I would call them while the getting is good.
