As for cell phone plans, there are a wide variety of options to choose from, based on your needs.  Here are reviews of three that particularly stand out:

Fair and Flexible

This is the way to go if you need an economical plan.  It starts at 200 minutes per month for $29.95, and includes unlimited long distance, local walkie-talkie, nights and weekends at all pay grades.  You can adjust your monthly minutes depending on your usage, and you can also add on extras such as group, unlimited national or international walkie-talkie for $10 per month.

Free Incoming

This is probably the best all-around deal you’ll find with Nextel.  It starts at 300 minutes for $49.95, about $20 more per month than Fair and Flexible.  But it includes a lot more airtime—not only unlimited nights and weekends, free long distance and roaming, but also free incoming calls.  If you’ve ever been irked because cellular plans charge you for incoming calls as well as outgoing—something your land-line doesn’t do—you’ll love this plan.

National Power

This plan gives you the most minutes—so if you’re a heavy-duty talker, this is your plan. It actually starts at 300 minutes for $39.95, less than Free Incoming, and includes all the same freebies except for free incoming calls.  But the real value comes as you go up the pay scale—for $99.99 per month, you get 2000 minutes.

Nextel has some good deals for individual rates, but one of the most useful features they offer is GPS tracking. Many Nextel phones include a GPS satellite connection that lets you navigate by phone when you’re in your car at a fraction of the cost of a straight GPS locator system.  You can also access Mapquest through your phone.  For business plans, you can install GPS locators to track your employees, as well as access a truck-specific navigating system that takes road restrictions for large shipping trucks into consideration.

Nextel is a good network both for individual plans and businesses, and it offers some great deals.  With all its extra features and options, it’s definitely worth an extra look.
